My name is Kenny Anderson and I'm a retired Case Manager consultant with over 20-years experience, including being homeless myself, before overcoming my personal barriers and improving my life. Now I'm using my life experiences and Case Manager skills to help others in need.  I was engaged by Kirkwood HELPS during the Pilot Initiative to provide case management services and support to Kirkwood neighbors  in need of assistance with housing, mental health and medical health services, referrals, ID’s and other personal needs.

During the Kirkwood HELPS Pilot Kenny was available to meet with Kirkwood’s unhoused seeking assistance, one-on-one, at Kirkwood United Church of Christ (KUCC) every Wednesday between the hours of 10 am – 2 pm. Kenny provided case manager services from October 2024 through March of 2025.  During his approximately six-month tenure Kenny worked with 9 individuals seeking assistance with documents, medical needs and housing and helped 3 homeless individuals (including 2 Veterans) get off the streets and into transitional and permanent supportive housing.

When Kirkwood HELPS contracted Kenny he had existing one-day per week case manager engagements at "A Home for Everyone" and North Decatur Presbyterian Church in Decatur and was actively helping others in need with advocacy, information access and effective pathways to improvement.

Kirkwood HELPS now collaborates with Intown Cares Case Managers who have the benefit of using the Kirkwood HELPS Support Center at KUCC for client appointments, meeting space, bathroom facilities, outreach lunches, water, snacks and assistance from a compassionate Kirkwood HELPS support team who leverage Support Center resources to assist the hungry and underserved in the Kirkwood neighborhood.
