RESULTS DRIVEN COLLABORATION + SYNERGY KIRKWOOD HELPS + INTOWN CARES =
MORE HELP and RELIEF FOR KIRKWOOD'S UNDERSERVED
In the spring of 2025 the City of Atlanta approved funding for their much-anticipated "neighborhood-embedded case manager initiative" that provided funding to Intown Cares and enabled the assignment of one of their homeless outreach case managers to the Kirkwood and Little Five Points neighborhoods on a shared basis.
Kirkwood HELPS and KUCC already had relationships with Kirkwood's unhoused neighbors plus the operational "neighborhood-embedded Kirkwood HELPS Support Center" located at KUCC, so, an invitation to collaborate was extended with the objective of benefiting all parties, especially the unhoused and underserved.
While our relationship remains informal, we've accomplished much more working together collaboratively. The Kirkwood HELPS/KUCC team helped expedite and inform Intown Cares case manager outreach to Kirkwood's unhoused by making introductions, providing additional background information on individuals and helping to set appointments for case managers.
The Kirkwood HLEPS/KUCC team and neighborhood-enbedded Support Center provide complementary supportive services and assistance to the unhoused and underserved that have helped to build rapport and follow-up momentum with Kirkwood’s indigent neighbors plus meet their immediate needs.
These include providing boxed lunches, emergency food, snacks, water, bathroom facilities, personal hygiene supplies, clothing, transportation, emergency financial support, compassion and a place to get out of the elements. The Kirkwood HELPS Support Center also provides a dedicated private room for Intown Cares case managers to meet with clients one-on-one every Wednesday between 10 am - 2 pm and the Kirkwood HELPS Support Center team helps Intown Cares case managers with walk-in clients and outreach lunches.
